Football as a sport is huge in Ghana, and the fans need big stadiums to gather and cheer their teams on. Although there are more than 10 stadiums in use in Ghana – some tailored for atheletics and more – the biggest is the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, with a capacity of 40,528.

The second largest is the Accra Sports Stadium, which along with the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, has hosted many local and international tournaments and or matches.

How to Get there

Easy. Get to Kumasi (soon you’ll be able to directly fly to Kumasi with the ongoing upgrade of the Kumasi Airport to needed standards, to support international flights)

Kumasi is the capital city of Ghana, also known as the Garden City.

The Experience

I’ve personally not joined a stadium to cheer on a football team of choice before. However, the thrilling effect can still be felt through the screens when I watch local matches.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium is the home grounds of a few football clubs, big among them being the Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

The place looks well kept and maintained, although the grass could use some more ‘pampering’.
